Chhath is the festivals mostly celebrated mainly in Bihar of India and Mithila State of Nepal. Chhath is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival of Nepal.
The Chhath Puja is dedicated to the Sun in order to thank them for bestowing the bounties of life on earth and to request the granting of certain wishes. This festival is observed by Nepalese people and Indian people. Sun is considered as the god of energy. So, during Chhath sun is worshiped for well being, prosperity and progress. Chhath is celebrated for four days long.
Earlier Chhath is celebrated only by the people of Terai region in Nepal but these days in Kathmandu valley too and all over the nation Chhath festival is being celebrated. Even the migrant Nepalese and Indian in USA have celebrated Chhath worshiping Chhatimata reaching at the ponds and seas nearby.
ANTA (Association of Nepali Teraian in America) too has celebrated Chhath in Virginia, USA. ANTA is a non-political and non-profit organization that was registered in State of Texas, America.
ANTA was formed to promote advancement and awareness of the Teraians identity, cultural heritages and networking among Nepali Teraians in North America. Similarly, on the auspicious occasion of Chhath festival ANTA have organized Chhath celebration program and had celebrated Chhath festival I a traditional way.
