Kathmandu: CPN (UML) chair KP Sharma Oli has said the election of the members to the House of Representatives should be held before the provincial election
Talking to media persons today, following his return from a weeklong visit to Tibet, China, the former Prime Minister forewarned of difficulty in the implementation of constitution if the House of Representatives election could not be held on time. The party would have no concern if both elections were organised simultaneously.
As per the constitutional deadline, the three-tier election shall be completed within January 21, 2018.
He said the discussion on the constitution amendment matter was possible after the election.
Giving his reaction to the stance of Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) Nepal not to participate in the election sans the constitution amendment, he said the party should not devalue democratic practices for petty issues.
During his week-long trip to Tibet, he had visited the Shigatse and Kailash Mansorobar and also held meetings with officials of the Tibet autonomous region.
Stating that the Chinese side had expressed willingness to implement agreements including that related to transit and transport it signed with Nepal during his premiership, he said China was undertaking the railway construction project up to Kyirung point in Rasuwa and it was likely to expand the project into Nepali territory as well if the Nepal Government urged for so.
